Temptation bundling gets its name because it’s taking a habit that you may think of as a temptation-type habit and stacking it with a habit that may not be as tempting, but you know is good for you and you want to establish it.
Even as a health coach, I don’t want to get and stay healthy all on my own. I’m sure I could, but I don’t WANT to. It’s so much more fun with other people. Helping cheer them on when they’re crushing it; motivating them when they’ve fallen off a bit. It’s the other people that make it so much more fun and do-able.
Because when it comes to our health, I’m seeing the same questions pop up over and over and over. Not because we truly don’t know the answers (I think most people do), but because we want a different answer than the one we’ve been getting.
As humans we have a difficult time taking our time when it comes to our health … or anything really. We want results yesterday – which is funny because we’re wired NOT to want change. If we start smaller though, we can find what ACTUALLY works.
we’ve made progress and have learned to recognize when we need help. And we have no trouble telling ourselves we need help. We’ll say it to ourselves inside our heads; we’ll whisper it under our breath to see how it sounds out in the world. However, the issue is when we need to ask for help from someone specifically.

All the social media snippets of grunting and sweating and coaches screaming about more burpees has given exercise a bad name. So if you find yourself hating [insert exercise] then try something else!
Because our brains are really good at what they do, our habit stacks aren’t lost after a week of skipping them on vacation. In fact, our brain doesn’t even consider it ‘skipping’ because it wasn’t the time or place for the habit stack to occur. Which means that when you return home and get into your normal routine of things.
When my husband saw the scale inch up over 200 lbs, I literally saw him shake his head. Shake. His. Head. And I didn’t murder him. That’s real love, y’all.
One of the weirder fad diets that has hung around FAR longer than it should is the idea of liquid diets. Weight loss is hard enough for most people, why would you want to make it even tougher with more hunger pangs and never getting to feel like you’ve eaten enough?
You can see how this is the reverse of how you fell off the wagon in the first place. All we’re doing here is reversing the process with small swaps and small choices that begin moving the needle in the opposite direction.
