Having been a coach for seven years, I’ve experimented on and off with various heart rate monitors and trackers – wearables, apps and self-reporting. And ultimately I’ve come to the conclusion that no, you absolutely don’t need to use any type of health/fitness tech to successfully get in shape, lose some weight or improve your health.
As someone who has designed hundreds of workout programs for just as many clients and athletes, I can say with 100% certainty, the best program out there is the one you will actually do!
We’re a week in and if you’ve already fallen off the resolution wagon, all is not lost!!! So don’t give up on it just yet. Read on for three tips on how to save it.
As you’re considering a ‘new year, new me’ diet change, keep in mind that WHEN you eat may matter just as much as WHAT you eat. The timing of our food absolutely matters for many, many reasons.

So you ate ALLLLL of thanksgiving dinner… turkey, stuffing, mashed taters with all the fixin’s, and threw in a couple buttered rolls to boot. Oh, and don’t forget the slice of pumpkin pie annnnd (admits sheepishly) how you didn’t want to offend anyone, so you went ahead and tried the other two desserts, too. Sound familiar?
The number one, most noticeable and effective thing about intermittent fasting that I found was: I stopped eating the shit I normally eat after 8pm. That’s hands-down the single most effective thing it did for me.
Holiday slumps are a real thing – watching everyone else seem to enjoy all the festivities and holiday cheer while all you want to do is hibernate and do, well, nothing. And that’s okay! You’re allowed to hibernate and take care of you. And if you want to be one of those women who’s fa-la-la-ing the shit out of the holidays, you can! But don’t wait to start in 2022.
Now that you’ve realized you likely do multiple habit stacks throughout your day, you might also be realizing that your days usually have you going right from one thing to the next, to the next. There is no ‘spare’ time when you’re working and taking care of your kids and managing the house and doing allll the things.
Because we’re such social creatures, it’s no surprise that the things those around us do, also influence what we do. Everything from our clothes to our lingo to our social norms. Which is why having people around you who also value themselves and their health is a MASSIVE factor for you and your lifestyle, too.
