Why You’re Not Seeing Weight Loss Results Yet—And What to Do About It

Feb 27, 2025 | Beliefs

How do you stay motivated when you don’t see results? Oh, if I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked this! And trust me, I get it. You’re putting in the work, making healthier choices, showing up for yourself—and yet, the scale isn’t budging, your jeans don’t feel any looser, and you’re starting to wonder, Is this even working?

First thing first:

You didn’t get here overnight, and you won’t reverse it overnight either. That’s just the reality of how bodies work. Your current habits didn’t form in a week, and new ones won’t magically transform you in a week either. Sustainable changes take time. So before you start questioning everything and looking for a new plan, give the current one a real chance to work. Consistency beats perfection every single time.

Another thing to keep in mind? Plateaus are totally normal. Your body is an adaptive machine, and sometimes, it takes a little time to adjust before you see external changes. And let’s not forget—your weight, energy, and performance will fluctuate naturally, especially as a woman with a monthly hormonal cycle. Some weeks you’ll feel on top of the world, and others you’ll wonder why you feel bloated and sluggish despite doing everything right. This is normal. Ride the wave and trust the process.

Progress IS Happening

This is where your instant gratification brain tries to sabotage you. That little voice will start whispering (or, let’s be real, yelling), “It’s not working! Why even bother?” But here’s the thing: it IS working. Just because you don’t see dramatic changes right away doesn’t mean progress isn’t happening. Your body is healing, adjusting, and setting the foundation for long-term results. Don’t let that inner voice convince you to quit before your body has even had a chance to show you what it’s capable of.

Instead of only measuring success by what you see in the mirror or on the scale, look at other indicators of progress. Are you feeling stronger? Do your workouts feel easier? Are you sleeping better? Do you have more energy? These are ALL signs that your hard work is paying off. The wins are there—you just have to look beyond the obvious.

So, how do you stay motivated when the results aren’t coming as fast as you want? You remember WHY you started. You remind yourself that progress isn’t linear, and that showing up consistently is what separates success from frustration. You acknowledge that instant gratification isn’t your friend here—patience and persistence are.

The long story short? Keep going. Don’t let your instant gratification brain tell you it’s not working when you know deep down that it is. Trust the process, stay consistent, and before you know it, you’ll look back and realize just how far you’ve come. And if you need a pep talk? You know where to find me.
